The Story
The MDV story started off as one bloke with a huge passion for wine and everything that went into making it. This was all about sourcing the best grapes from boutique vineyards and working with them to produce high end, handcrafted wines that could be enjoyed by all that love premium wines.
This dream began back in 1992, when Michael Datta started visiting the Hunter Valley NSW, Australia. Over the next 8 years, Michael did everything he could to learn all about the Wine Industry; by working with grape growers, winemakers and marketers from some of Australia's most respected regions and wineries.
In 2000 his dream became a full-time passion and focus. The MICHAELDATTA Vineyards business has been associated with, co-owned and consulted to numerous boutique vineyards/wineries across Australia.
In 2003 Michael took on a contrcat role as the Vice President of Association of Australian Boutique Winemakers, creating and driving a wide range of industry benefits, wile also growing the winery membership base. During this period, Michael was working very closely with top rated boutique wineries from Margaret River, Yarra, Hunter Valley, Coonawarra, Eden Valley and the Barossa Valley.
In 2005 it was time for the Michael to launch his own brand called MDV Handcrafted Wines. The first vintagaes of MDV were produced in Eden Valley, South Australia. These award winning wines included a Riesling, Grenache, Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon.
