The Story

The MDV story started off as one bloke's huge passion for wine and everything that went into making it...

Michael Datta’s dream of being involved in the wine industry began back in 1991. Michael did everything he could to learn all about the Wine Industry, by working with grape growers, winemakers and marketers from some of Australia's most respected regions and wineries.

In 2000 Michael's dream and passion became a full-time job and career. Michael actively partnered and launched, exciting new boutique wineries and brands out of the Hunter Valley, NSW and then in the Barossa/Eden Valley, SA. During this period of Michael was able to produce and co-make some of Australia's most highly rated wines, earning great accolades and awards.

Between 2000 and 2010, Michael held the position of Vice President of the Association of Australian Boutique Winemakers Inc. (AABW) on two separate occasions; assisting boutique wineries achieve great business success locally and internationally. While at the AABW, Michael co-founded the Tri Nations Wine Challenge, which is regarded to be a major international, recognised wine show.

In 2005, Michael launched MDV Handcrafted Wines. These highly regarded wines are produced from the Barossa/Eden Valley, SA.

They include: 

- Eden Valley - Riesling
- Barossa - Black Pearl - Shiraz
- Barossa/Eden Valley - Jack Raj - Shiraz Grenache
- Barossa - Fat Fish - Shiraz

The fruit for these carefully handcrafted Artisan wines are sourced mainly from Moorooroo Park Vineyards, which is 100% organically grown.
